Najaf Qoli Khan Bachtiari ( Persian نجف قلی خان بختیاری; * 1851 ; † 1931 in Isfahan ) known as Saad al Dowleh and Samsam-os Saltaneh was Iranian Prime Minister twice for a few months during the Constitutional Revolution .

Life

Najaf Qoli Khan was the son of Hosein Qoli Khan Bakhtiari and the older brother of Ali Qoli Khan Bakhtiari ( Sardar As'ad II ). After Mohammed Ali Shah threatened to crush the constitutional movement , Sardar Asad Najaf called Qoli Khan for help. Sardar As'ad and Najaf Qoli Khan were in command of the Bakhtiyari troops who moved to Tehran in 1909 to free the parliamentarians trapped by the Cossack brigade .

Najaf Qoli Khan has served as minister in several cabinets and has served as prime minister seven times. His first term of office extended from May 3, 1909 to July 16, 1909. His second term of office from December 23, 1912 to January 11, 1913 was also very short. Saad al Dowleh was also a member of the fourth term of the Iranian parliament . Najaf Qoli Khan had no formal school education. He was considered rather apolitical. His social position as a tribal leader of the Bakhtiars and his support for the constitutional revolution led to the overthrow of Mohammad Ali Shah and the restoration of the constitutional monarchy in Iran.
