Mohr's home

The Mohr'sche Heim in Flensburg - Duburg is a former foundation building at Schloßstraße 41. It is one of the city's cultural monuments .

background

After the German-Danish War (1864) and the establishment of the Prussian Province of Schleswig-Holstein (1867), Flensburg's Prussian era began. The German Empire was founded in 1871, and the imperial era (1871–1818) began. Presumably during this time, the 1870s, a single-storey predecessor of the Mohr'schen Heim was built, which served as a residential building. In 1903, the previous building was converted by master mason Martin Jensen into the Mohr'sches Heim foundation house. In the course of time, a number of monastery buildings were erected in the city , such as the Munketoftstift in downtown Flensburg , the Rönnenkamp Stift in Fruerlund or the Plaetner Heim located not far on Ritterstraße .

The free-standing, two-storey plastered building does not have a completely square shape, as it was adapted to the course of the Schloßstraße. The street front of the building is therefore in line with those of the neighboring houses. Overall, the street facade is intricately structured. On the left side of the facade there is a side elevation with a dwelling . The purlin roof of the foundation building was covered with slate . The Mohr'sche Heim has served as an apartment building since 1921 . Minutes of a meeting of the council meeting on May 12, 1977 recorded that some renovation work was taking place in Mohr's home at that time.
