Mokdad Sifi

Mokdad Sifi ( Arabic مقداد سيفي, DMG Muqdād Sīfī ; * April 21, 1940 in Tebessa ) was Prime Minister of Algeria from 1994 to 1995 .

Sifi was appointed Prime Minister by President Liamine Zéroual on April 11, 1994, succeeding Redha Malek . Because of his ineffectiveness in the fight against Islamist terror, he was replaced by Ahmed Ouyahia on December 30, 1995 .

In the presidential elections of 1999 he ran as an independent candidate, but ended up only in sixth place with 226,139 votes (2.2%).
