Belaid Abdessalam
Belaid Abdessalam ( Arabic بلعيد عبد السلام, DMG Balʿaid ʿAbd as-Salām ; * July 20, 1928 in Ain Kebir ; † June 27, 2020 ) was Prime Minister of Algeria from July 8, 1992 to August 21, 1993 .
He was a National Leader ( FLN ) during the Algerian struggle for independence against France . Abdessalam was Minister of Energy and Economy in the government of Houari Boumedienne .
During his tenure, the civil war between the Algerian government and the Islamist rebels intensified .
