The connecting route from the Danube to the Elbe begins in Passau on the Danube Cycle Path downstream to Obermühl behind the Schlögener Loop . From here it goes through the Mühlviertel on the Mühltal cycle path along the small Mühl via Rohrbach up to Schlägl . From Aigen in the Mühlkreis you go on the old trade route, the Krumauer Straße, to Kyselov in South Bohemia (Czech Republic) at the Lipno reservoir , the largest dammed lake in the Vltava .

Head east through the foothills of the Bohemian Forest along the dammed Vltava via Vyšší Brod to Rožmberk nad Vltavou .

Now the Vltava cycle path runs northwards, mostly away from the Vltava, via Český Krumlov , the historic city of Budweis and the capital Prague to Mělník to the Elbe cycle path . The Vltava Cycle Path leads for the first few kilometers from Prague on partly paved towpaths towards Mělník.

The tourist cycle route runs mostly on country roads with little traffic with numerous hills and rarely also on their own cycle paths. The entire route covers around 2900 meters in altitude.
