Moncef Genoud

Moncef Genoud (born September 2, 1961 in Tunis ) is a Swiss jazz musician (piano) of Tunisian origin.

Genoud, who is blind from birth, came to Switzerland for adoption at the age of two and grew up in Geneva , received piano lessons from the age of six. As a teenager he was trained by Achille Scotti and Henri Chaix and then studied classical piano at the Geneva Conservatory. After a first trip to the USA, he founded his trio with Reggie Johnson and Alvin Queen in the 1980s , with whom he presented his debut album Waiting for Birth in 1989 ; With a different line-up, he toured North America; Until today (2017) eleven more albums followed under his own name. He also arranged part of the music for the film Return to Gorée by Youssou N'Dour (2009), with which he also played in the concert on Gorée .
