Monica Mancini

Monica Jo Mancini (born May 4, 1952 ) is an American jazz singer .

Life

Monica Mancini was born in 1952 to Henry Mancini and his wife Virgina "Ginny" Mancini and grew up in Northridge , California , a district of Los Angeles . She has a twin sister, Felice Mancini, and a brother, Chris Mancini , who is also a musician.

She began her career as a member of the Henry Mancini Chorus. She then sang on numerous film soundtracks and studio productions with artists such as Placido Domingo , Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson .

In 1998 she released her debut album Monica Mancini . Two years later, Dreams of Johnny Mercer, the first album on Concord Records . In 2002 she released a cover album with Cinema Paradiso with reworking of various film songs. In 2005 she was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for the album Ultimate Mancini , recorded together with the Ultimate Mancini Orchestra . Her fifth album I've Loved These Days , a collection of classic songs such as God Only Knows or Ballad of the Sad Young Men , was released in 2010.

Mancini is married to drummer Gregg Field and lives in Studio City, California .
