Monika Bergen (born November 22, 1941 in Berlin , † August 21, 1962 with Kyritz , actually Bärbel Breitsprecher ) was a German film and theater actress and voice actress .

life and work

She was born as the daughter of the actress Erna Breitsprecher in 1941 in Berlin. Since the mother had a long-standing engagement at the Berliner Volksbühne , her daughter became enthusiastic about acting at an early age. As a young girl, she worked in children's roles at the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm , but also from 1955 in DEFA film productions , such as the feature film The Dream Ship . Further film productions followed before she learned a 'solid' profession as a stenographer at the request of her parents .

Her great love, however, was acting, so - after completing her professional training - she concentrated again on film offers. During the shooting of the film The Today Over 40 by Director Kurt Jung-Alsen , she met the actors Rudolf Ulrich and Helga Göring in 1960 . Ulrich encouraged her to choose a stage name, so that from then on she performed under the pseudonym Monika Bergen . Goering, however, promoted her career by giving her acting lessons.

In 1962, Bergen had her first theater engagement on a stage in Wismar, at the same time she worked in film and television productions, but also as a voice actress when she was 20 years old when she died in a car accident near Kyritz.
