Arthur Gaebelein

Arthur Gaebelein (born March 29, 1891 in Mansfeld , † August 28, 1964 in Halle (Saale) ) was a German football player. In 1912 he was employed in the German national soccer team . In his club career he was initially a striker and later a defender .

career

Gaebelein played from 1901 to 1930 for Hallescher FC Hohenzollern (from 1918 Hallescher SV 1898, after 1945 BSG unit in the middle of Halle), of which he remained until his death in 1964. In between there was an activity at Viktoria 1896 Magdeburg during the First World War from 1914 to 1917. With the Viktoria, the attacker from Halle won the Middle Elbe championship twice in 1916 and 1917. With the Hallescher SV 1898, the Saale championship was added in 1921/22.

The "excellent combination player" had a long and successful career in the association selection of Central Germany . He made his debut in the competition for the Crown Prince's Cup on October 9, 1910 in the game in Leipzig against Northern Germany at the side of Camillo Ugi on the left wing. In the 1912/13 competition, his appearance on October 13, 1912 in Fürth, playing against the strong team from southern Germany with Max Breunig , Hermann Bosch , Fritz Förderer , Julius Hirsch , Eugen Kipp and Karl Wegele, made him part of the national team. He completed his only international match on November 17, 1912 in Leipzig as a left winger against the Netherlands. Germany lost 2: 3. The DFB team with Wegele, Förderer, Adolf Jäger , Kipp and Gaebelein was attacked. After that, Gaebelein was not called back to the national team.

A year later, on November 9, 1913, he won the semi-final game for the Crown Prince's Cup in Nuremberg against southern Germany (2: 1 a.s.) with Central Germany. In the final he lost on February 22, 1914 in Berlin with teammates such as goalkeeper Johannes Schneider and field players Willy Völker , Ernst Rokosch , Paul Pömpner and Eduard Pendorf with 1: 2 goals against northern Germany, in whose ranks the offensive players Adolf Jäger, Otto Harder , Richard Queck and Ernst Möller stood out. On May 29, 1919, he scored the consolation goal for the hosts in the semi-final game in Leipzig against southern Germany in the Bundesliga in the 1: 3 defeat against southern Germany . Gaebelein experienced his second participation in the finals on June 20, 1920 in Hanover in the game against West Germany; but also with 0: 1 after extra time his second defeat. When the representation of Central Germany on March 20, 1921 in Leipzig secured the national cup with a clear 4-0 win against West Germany in the final, Richard Kühn from SpVgg Leipzig stormed on the left wing. Gaebelein had participated in the victorious semi-final on November 14, 1920 in Dresden against Brandenburg (2: 1) alongside Förderer and Pömpner in the attack of the VMBV.

He played a total of 35 representative games for the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs ; including 16 missions with three goals from 1910 to 1922 in the Crown Prince Cup, National Cup and Combat Cup games. He was awarded the Association's Silver Badge of Honor.
