Monika Wiskandt

Monika Wiskandt (born June 22, 1936 in Königsberg ; † July 27, 2011 in Wuppertal ) was a German table tennis player . She won a total of five titles at national championships.

life and career

Monika Wiskandt started playing table tennis at the age of 12. The defender joined the East German club SC Einheit Berlin , with whom she was East German team champion three times in a row from 1956 to 1958. In 1956 she was GDR champion with Renate Kohn in doubles, two years later - held in November 1957 - with Heinz Schneider in mixed.

In 1957 and 1959 she took part in world championships. In 1959 she was only nominated in the individual competitions.

At the beginning of 1958 Wiskandt left the GDR and joined the Barmer TTC Blau-Weiß-Gold and later the Post SV Köln in the Federal Republic . In 1961 she married and then started under Monika Lau . She won several medals at the German championships : silver in 1959 mixed with Hans Wilhelm Gäb and bronze in 1959 with Hilde Gröber , 1962 with Isolde Woschee and 1963 with Gudrun Müller . In Berlin it was in the national ranking tournament in 1958 fourth.

In 1963 she ended her career and worked at the Pedagogical Academy in Wuppertal . She later married again and then worked under the name Wiskandt-Osthoff as a youth warden at the Fortuna Wuppertal association , of which she also became an honorary member.

Monika Wiskandt died in July 2011 and was buried at sea.
