Gudrun Müller (table tennis player)

Gudrun Müller (* around 1940) is a German table tennis player . She took part in a world championship and a European championship.

National

Müller began her career at ESV Aachen. In 1956 she won the West German girls' championship. In the same year she moved to Post SV Köln in the Oberliga , the top German division at the time. From 1960 to 1962 she was West German women's champion three times in a row.

1959 she won the national ranking tournament in fifth place a year later in the same tournament in fourth place. At the National German Championships she reached the double final in 1959 with Helene Klonisch and in 1962 with Hilde Gröber . 1963/64 she won the women's team of West German Table Tennis Association WTTV Germany Cup .

International

In 1959 she was nominated for the individual competitions of the World Cup in Dortmund. Here she was eliminated in all three competitions in the first round: In the singles against the Korean Yool Ja Hwang, in the doubles with Helene Klonisch against Ghislaine Roland / Maria Van Kampen (Belgium) and in the mixed with Herbert Gomolla against Lothar Pleuse / Ute Mittelstädt ( GDR).

In the 1959/60 season she reached the final at the International German Championships in doubles with Hilde Gröber .

For the World Cup in Beijing, she was planned as a substitute player in advance. However, it did not come into play because none of the nominated players canceled. In 1962 she took part in the individual competitions of the European Championships in Berlin. In the individual, she reached the third round through victories over Lena Guntsch (Sweden) and Margaret Piper (England), where she lost to Monique Alber (France). The doubles with Ursula Paulsen won against Lis Ramberg / Evy Schandorph (Denmark) and then lost to Mary Shannon / Diane Rowe (England). In a mixed with Hans-Jörg Offergeld , she went one round without a fight, but then failed to Vojislav Marković / Monique Alber (Yugoslavia / France).

Honor

In 1965 the West German Table Tennis Association WTTV recognized her successes and awarded her the silver pin of honor. A year later, Müller ended her career as a competitive athlete and joined the TTF Schmetz-Herzogenrath association.
