Monique Frey

Monique Frey (born September 4, 1965 in Baden AG ) is a Swiss politician ( Greens ). She has been a member of the Lucerne Cantonal Council since June 2008 .

biography

Monique Frey grew up in Birr in the canton of Aargau . Her mother was a local editor for the Badener Tagblatt and the Aargauer Zeitung , her father was an SVP - municipal councilor . She attended the Windisch District School and the Baden Cantonal School before completing a degree in agronomy at the ETH Zurich in 1992 . In 1999 she became a Dr., dipl. Ing.-Agr. ETH doctorates . In 1996 she took up a position at Anicom , the marketing organization for Swiss farmers. She was a member of the board of directors of the Community Hard AG residential and work project for five years , including three years as president. In 2004 she set up a project in development cooperation for Caritas Switzerland in Goražde in Bosnia-Herzegovina for one year . She is currently working at Caritas Switzerland as a specialist advisor in the field of food security and markets.

Frey lives with her partner in Emmen . They have a grown daughter together.

politics

Frey was Birr's residents' councilor from 1990 to 1996 and Emmen's councilor from 2007 to 2013. From 2008 to 2019 she was a board member of the Green Canton of Lucerne (from 2008 to 2012 as co-president). She has been a member of the Lucerne Cantonal Council since 2008, and as the leader of the Greens since 2015. As a cantonal councilor, she was already a member of the Education and Culture Commission and the Justice and Security Commission. From 2015 to 2019 she was also President of the Editorial Committee. She has been a member of the supervisory and control committee since 2015.

In the Swiss parliamentary elections in 2019 , she is running for the Greens of the Canton of Lucerne for the National Council and for the Council of States .

Volunteering

Frey is a board member of the Lucerne section of the Swiss pedestrian association and of Meetpoint , the youth club in Emmen.
