Venus mound

The Venus mound gets its name from the mound-shaped elevation that is created by the prominent pubic bone

As mons (after the Roman goddess Venus ) - also known as pubis , pubis , Venus mountain or in medical jargon as mons pubis or mons Veneris - the slight elevation above the female is pubis referred to directly above the labia. It is caused by a buildup of subcutaneous fat on the pubic symphysis . In its natural state, the mons pubis is mostly covered with pubic hair from puberty onwards .

The venus mound is the region of the body directly above the labia ; it begins at the point where the outer labia converge at the front (commissura labiorum anterior) . The elevation of the mound consists of subcutaneous adipose tissue . From puberty onwards, pubic hair covers the mons pubis - unless it is removed. The development and appearance of the labia majora , the labia majora and mons pubis and the pubic hair ( Tanner stages ) are especially the androgens affected.

Due to the large number of nerve connections running there, the mons can be viewed as an erogenous zone .
