The Mont Clapier is a mountain in the Maritime Alps on the main Alpine ridge right on the border between France and Italy . With a height of 3,045 m, it is the southernmost three-thousand meter in the Alps. It consists of gneiss and granite .

The French south side belongs to the inner protection zone of the Mercantour National Park . On the Italian side is the Glacier du Clapier , which is considered the southernmost glacier in the Alps .

It is part of the Mercantour massif and is about 40 km from the Mediterranean Sea.

The view is very extensive and extends to the Mediterranean Sea in the south, Monte Viso in the north and the high Alps in the northeast . On a clear day you can even see Corsica .
