Montana ( Japanese モ ン タ ナ ・ ジ ョ ー ン ズ , Montana Jōnzu , literally: "Montana Jones"; Italian. Caccia al tesoro con Montana , literally: "On a treasure hunt with Montana") is a Japanese / Italian animated series for children directed by Tetsuo Imazawa, which was developed in 1994 by Marco Pagot and Gi Pagot . In Germany, the series ran from 1997 to 1998 on Nickelodeon . It is among the Furry - anime and consists of a total of 52 episodes.

The series takes place in the 1930s and is about the adventures of Montana Jones, who goes on a treasure hunt around the world with his cousin Prof. Alfred Jones and the pretty reporter Melissa Sone in the best Indiana Jones fashion . They visit real locations and cities such as the pyramids of Giza , the Taj Mahal , Istanbul or Easter Island . Most of the time, they get in the way of Lord Zero, a wealthy, eccentric art lover and master thief. All of the characters in the series are people with lions - or tiger - like heads. The anime is probably based on the Indiana Jones adventure film series .

main characters

  • Montana Jones is a young adventurer and constantly on the lookout for the unknown and he is not afraid of daring and dangerous actions, such as jumping out of a plane without a parachute. Together with his cousin Alfred he travels all over the world, always on the lookout for fabulous treasures for Alfred's mentor, Professor Gerrit. The two often get into trouble because Lord Zero and his gang try to steal the treasure every time. Montana is doing everything possible to prevent this. To make money, Montana works in his aunt's restaurant. He needs this money to keep his seaplane Kitty (which has already been repaired countless times, but still takes our two adventurers to the respective locations with great difficulty) airworthy. Melissa Sone is always somewhere close to Montana and Alfred. Montana is in love with her, but he does not confess his love to her.
  • Alfred Jones loves to examine ancient cultures, strange languages and treasures. He hates traveling, but his mentor Professor Gerrit keeps sending him records with new assignments. Every time he gets on board Montana's plane, he gets scared to death. Alfred loves his mother and likes her spaghetti bolognese. He is an avid cook himself and prepares huge amounts of spaghetti for Melissa and Montana. He hates dangerous adventures and doesn't know how to swim - so Alfred is actually the exact opposite of his cousin Montana, but together they make a great team. Sometimes they have trouble finding treasure the first time, but in the end they find everything.
  • Melissa Sone , always handsome, is the daughter of a diplomat and always helps Montana and Alfred. She loves shopping, is a journalist and mostly wears a dress. Melissa is usually late for her manicure because Montana always takes her on an adventure trip, even when she doesn't want to go. She's struggling to keep up with Montana because of her high-heeled shoes. That's why she was always in the right place at the right time. Besides shopping, she also enjoys adventure travel, but she doesn't want Montana to know about it. In the last episode it turns out that Melissa's father is none other than Professor Gerrit himself.
  • Lord Zero is the villain of the story who tries all the time to usurp all the treasures. Sometimes he succeeds, but Montana and Alfred can always bring her back. Mostly that's because Slim, Slam, or Dr. Nitro make a mistake. Lord Zero has tons of gadgets, all with strange functions. For example, they can shoot, serve as a telescope, or have similar functions. He's always in a bad mood and doesn't like to hear excuses.
  • Slim and Slam are Lord Zero's henchmen. They don't have a very high IQ, but they know that their boss is always in a bad mood. What they also know is that it would be more effective if they found the treasure on their own, but their loyalty is greater than their daring. You always have to do the heavy lifting while Lord Zero does nothing. If something goes wrong, they have to stand up for it. Slim is very tall. Slam is a lot smaller, but both like to eat a lot.
  • Dr. Nitro is also a sidekick of Lord Zero and a brilliant inventor. He invents a lot of strange machines that never work the way they should. Lord Zero demands "a plausible explanation for this failure" in almost every episode. Dr. Nitro always has the same excuse: It would not have happened if he had given him more time and money ("With a little more time and a little more money ..."). He always takes care of his machines, but most of the time they explode because of Lord Zero, who puts too much stress on them.

The main characters also include Alfred's mother Agatha Jones , who runs a small Italian restaurant in Boston and who hired Montana and Alfred as temporary workers. The Asian Chada is the chef in this restaurant. Furthermore, Alfred's mentor Professor Gerrit plays a crucial role by giving Montana and Alfred assignments and providing them with information. You only get to see his face in the very last episode.
