The Monte Kiki (or Monte Kik ) is a mountain in Reutlingen's Markwasen .

history

The mountain is named after " Peter Kik , the former head of the garden and cemetery office" and was created in the years 1980–1982 "by filling up the excavated material from Reutlingen construction sites" for the 1984 state horticultural show in Reutlingen.

First of all, “a species-rich dry grassland and thus a paradise for a wide variety of fauna and flora” developed on Monte Kiki . The existing “biodiversity was gradually displaced by trees that grew spontaneously. An almost impenetrable undergrowth had established itself under the trees. ”In cooperation with the Listhof Environmental Education Center , the southern slope of the mountain was cleared of undergrowth by 11 Boer goats on September 19, 2014 . The costs for the planned twice-yearly grazing were estimated at almost € 10,000. A Pfullinger company started clearing on February 4th, 2015 . Since the goats could not permanently clear the slope of undergrowth, employees of the Listhof removed the rapidly growing wood with brushcutters .

use

The Monte Kiki is used by the population for local recreation . It offers a view over the city and the night eaves . In winter it is used for sledding . As the Schwäbisches Tagblatt reported, Thomas Poreski uses Monte Kiki for contemplation .
