history
The parish was created in 1812 by merging the two parishes of Montoy and Flanville.
Montoy was first mentioned as Montois in 1190 . From 1915 to 1918 it had the German name Montingen and from 1940 to 1944 the name Monten .
The district of Flanville was first mentioned in 1242 as Fleinville and carried the German name Flanheim from 1915 to 1918 and from 1940 to 1944 .
The community of Montoy-Flanville was merged with Ogy on January 1st, 2017 to form the Commune nouvelle Ogy-Montoy-Flanville. It belonged to the arrondissement of Metz and the canton of Pange .
