history

The label was brought into being by the DJ and music producer Matthias Tanzmann and André Quaas, the founder of the club guide 1000 ° . Both met at the Leipzig Club Distillery , where Matthias Tanzmann was a resident DJ at the time. Initially, Moon Harbor Recordings published tracks that are mainly attributable to the deep house genre , but from 2005 turned completely to club music. Over 100 EPs , 6 artist albums and several compilations have been released on Moon Harbor Recordings since its inception (as of August 2017).

In order to expand the range of Moon Harbor Recordings' repertoire, the sub-label Curl Curl was launched in 2004 and the sub-label Cargo Edition in 2006. The direction of Cargo Edition corresponds more to the genre of minimal house . So far, seven artists have published a total of 23 EPs here (as of August 2017).

In 2010 the New York Times ranked Leipzig among “The 31 Places to Go in 2010” and named Moon Harbor Recordings as one of the reasons for this.

Some of the artists who regularly publish with Moon Harbor Recordings and Cargo Edition are also represented by the booking agency “Times Artists” affiliated with the label .
