Moon Patrol is a classic arcade game from the Japanese game manufacturer Irem , which was first published in 1982. The game was later ported to many other systems.

Gameplay

The player controls a moon buggy (moon buggy), which he sees from the side on the playing field and which drives over the lunar surface. While driving the moon car, he has to avoid obstacles such as craters or mines. The moon car is attacked at the same time by UFOs from the air and by tanks that are traveling on land. Moon Patrol was one of the first video games to introduce side scrolling into the game. The first was Defender . Moon Patrol is parallax scrolling , with the foreground moving faster compared to the background.

The map is divided into five different sections (E, J, O, T and Z). As with racing games, these serve as checkpoints where times are compared with the average.

Others

There is a bootleg for Moon Patrol under the name Moon Ranger . The Irem M-52 arcade hardware is the forerunner and very similar to the Irem M-62 .
