Mora is a city in the province of Extreme North , which forms the northern tip of Cameroon . It is close to the border with Nigeria . Mora is the capital of the Mayo-Sava district .
history
Mora was visited by Dixon Denham on his trip to Africa 1822-1825 .
Mora was the seat of residence of the German Tschadseeländer since 1913 . The Fort of Mora was the location of the 3rd Company of the German Schutztruppe in Cameroon .
During the First World War , the resident of the German Tschadseeländer, Captain Ernst von Raben , holed up in Mora. Raben surrendered with his troops as the last fighting unit of the protection force of the Cameroon colony on February 18, 1916.
In 2015, Mora was a military base manned by around 2500 soldiers of a Chadian - Benin - Nigerian - Cameroonian regional force that fought against Boko Haram .
Infrastructure
There is a petrol station and a hotel at the junction of the N1 / N14 highways . In the city center there are two bank branches of the Crédit du Sahel and the Express Union near the market square . Both are microfinance companies .
