Murder of XXXTentacion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On June 18, 2018, American rapper Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy , also known as XXXTentacion , was shot dead in a public robbery at the gates of RIVA Motorsports, a motorcycle and watercraft dealer in Deerfield Beach , Florida . He was shot multiple times in the neck and was in critical condition before he was pronounced dead at 5:30 p.m. that day.

Events

On June 18, Onfroy went to Bank of America to withdraw money before joining RIVA Motorsports, a motorcycle and boat company in Deerfield Beach , Florida . After withdrawing money from a bank, he was followed by a dark SUV allegedly driving Dedrick Williams, Robert Allen, Michael Boatwright, and Trayvon Newsome.

At 3:30 p.m. EDT, Onfroy arrived at RIVA Motorsports and went inside with his uncle. Robert Allen and Dedrick Williams followed Onfroy into the store.

The two alleged perpetrators walked right past Onfroy when he was rummaging through motorcycles. They were recorded by cameras when they arrive at the store and bought two black masks. Half an hour later Onfroy left the dealership and got into his black BMW i8 to drive away from the store. The SUV pulled in front of Onfroy's car and blocked it while Newsome and Boatwright got out of the vehicle and demanded Onfroy's valuables. A brief fight ensued which resulted in Boatwright shooting Onfroy in the neck several times. Witnesses told police Newsome and Boatwright had a Louis Vuitton -Tasche from Onfroys vehicle and be brought then to the black SUV went.

The shooting took place in the east of Parkland town , where Onfroy was living at the time. The Broward County Fire Department took him to nearby Broward Health North. Onfroy was in critical condition after the shooting, and the Broward County Sheriff's office later confirmed his death.

Investigations

Mug shot of Dedrick Williams

Shortly after Onfroy's death was published, the Broward County Sheriff's office offered a $ 3,000 bounty for information that led to the arrest of suspects. Originally, many Onfroy's fans, numerous internet users and local residents suspected that Florida-based rappers Soldier Kidd and Soldier Jojo had committed the murders of Onfroy over several suspicious Instagram posts by the couple with specific details that supported testimony. This was refuted when Dedrick Williams and alleged gunman Michael Boatwright were arrested.

On June 20, 2018, the Broward County Sheriff's office arrested 22-year-old Dedrick Devonshay Williams in connection with Onfroy's murder. Williams was arrested in the chase that followed. He was identified by the clothes he wore on June 18, orange sandals and a white tank top. The police compared images from security material with current images from Williams' Instagram feed that contained "the same or similar bright orange sandals". He was also identified by employees who saw him at RIVA Motorsports to buy a neoprene mask. Two more arrest warrants were issued following Williams' arrest.

Robert Allen, 22, was linked to the case on June 27 and arrested on July 26 after being found at his sister's home in rural Georgia by U.S. marshals . He was held in Dodge County , Georgia and is being held without a warrant from the Broward County Sheriff's Office. On July 5, Michael Boatwright, 22, was also arrested by the Broward County Sheriff's Office. He was originally arrested for drug abuse, but an arrest warrant was issued on July 10 for Onfroy's death. Police believed that Boatwright shot Onfroy. The three men were later tried by a jury for the murder of Onfroy. On August 7, 20-year-old Trayvon Newsome was arrested for his involvement in the murder. Newsome and Boatwright are the alleged shooters.

Legal proceedings

Dedrick Williams has been charged with murder and parole violation; he was denied bail . On June 25th, he pleaded not guilty. Williams had previously been arrested several times.

consequences

After the announcement of the murder of Onfroy, a makeshift memorial was created by fans and local residents, which consisted of texts by the artist and memorial words written on the ground in chalk up to a hundred meters long. The owner of RIVA Motorsports, in which Onfroy was killed, held a vigil on June 18, 2018. Hundreds gathered during the vigil and the Broward County Sheriff was forced to close the road. Fans gathered in front of Onfroy's Parkland , Florida house , which was being built at the time. Onfroy's team issued a statement that a proper memorial service would be held shortly.

Internet personality Adam Grandmaison, professionally known as Adam22, the creator of the podcast No jumper, had his first professional interview for the Onfroy, held a day after Onfroys death before his BMX -Laden OnSomeShit on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles , a commemorative speech at a Crowd of 354 people. The crowd eventually grew to over 1,000 and the police eventually appeared in riot gear to disperse the crowd. Rubber bullets were reportedly fired and tear gas was used to scatter the crowd.

Six weeks after the murder, charges against Onfroy for abuse and violence against his pregnant ex-girlfriend Geneva Ayala were dropped. The rapper is said to have abused, beaten and kicked Ayala repeatedly in 2016 and was therefore in jail in December 2017.

On May 17, 2019, watson.de reported that Florida prosecutors had apparently presented new evidence against his alleged killers, Michael Boatwright, Dedrick Williams, Robert Allen and Trayvon Newsome.
