History of the Jews
Around 1920 there were 1,800 Jews in Mordy, about half of the population. After the German occupation of western Poland in 1939, the German district administration established a ghetto in November 1941, which included 3,380 people who had since been deported here. As a result of further deportations, the ghetto population rose to 4,500 by August 1942, when the ghetto was dissolved and the people were transported to the Treblinka extermination camp .
