Morgan James (* 24. November 1981 in Boise as Morgan Grunerud ) is an American singer and musical actress .

Life

James grew up in different locations as her family moved many times in her childhood. She graduated from high school in Modesto , California in 1999 and then studied opera at the Juilliard School . In 2003 she did her Bachelor of Music in Voice .

In 2010, Morgan James made her Broadway debut in The Addams Family . Engagements in Wonderland and Godspell followed from 2011 . In 2013 she was part of the ensemble in Motown: The Musical , which she left again in December 2013.

She released her first studio album in 2014, entitled Hunter , which was released on Epic Records . Producer was her future husband Doug Wamble . In 2017, Reckless Abandon was followed by their second studio album, this time self-published by Hedonist Records . In 2012 and 2016, she had also released an album with cover songs, including a full cover of Joni Mitchell's Blue album on the 45th anniversary of its release. Since 2014 she has been a guest musician with Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox and went on tour with the band. Her third studio album, Memphis Magnetic , was released on February 7, 2020 .

Morgan James married jazz guitarist Doug Wamble in 2016.
