Moritz Kraut (born February 3, 1905 in Neibsheim , † December 29, 1941 in Boriszewo , USSR ) was a German politician ( NSDAP ) and SA leader.

Live and act

Kraut was the son of a farmer. After attending primary school, he learned the carpentry trade . In addition, he attended trade schools and took lessons in model and mechanical engineering. He then worked as a carpenter in various cities in his learned profession for a few years. In Berlin he worked as a company employee and assistant. After 1933 he was a production engineer in the main bus workshop of the Berlin transport company in Treptow.

After Kraut had already come into contact with the Nazi movement in Mannheim in 1923 , he met some of Joseph Goebbels' employees in 1928 who brought him to Berlin at the end of September 1928. While still in Mannheim, he joined the NSDAP on July 1, 1927; on November 1, 1928 he also became a member of the SA in the Moabit district , where he was in charge of an SA unit. He then worked in SA Storm 6 before he was promoted to SA Sturmbannführer in the summer of 1932 and took over the leadership of Sturmbann 16 in November of the same year. When Sturmbann 16 was elevated to Standard 16 a few months after the National Socialist "seizure of power" , Kraut was appointed leader of this standard. He held this position until the summer of 1934. At that time he took over the leadership of SA Standard 2 (Kürtemeyer) as the successor to the late Hermann Voss , which he retained until July 1939. During this time he reached his highest SA rank when he was promoted to SA Oberführer on November 9, 1937. On August 1, 1939, Kraut finally took over the leadership of SA Standard 6.

In February 1936, Kraut joined the National Socialist Reichstag as a replacement for the resigned deputy Walther Schulze-Wechsel in constituency 3 (East Berlin) .

From 1939 Kraut took part in the Second World War as an infantryman and tank destroyer. During the war he was promoted to lieutenant (January 4, 1941) and was awarded the Iron Cross of both classes and the Infantry Assault Badge. Kraut died on December 29, 1941 in combat operations on the Eastern Front. Kraut's mandate in the Reichstag was then continued by Kurt Mende until the Nazi system collapsed.
