Moritz von Süßmilch
Bernhard Moritz von Süßmilch called Hörnig , also Moritz von Süßmilch-Hörnig (* July 24, 1823 in Wurzen , † May 11, 1892 in Leipzig ) was a Saxon colonel and nestor of the cartography of Saxony .
Life
As the son of an officer, Süßmilch joined the Saxon Army in 1839, in 1849 he was made a first lieutenant and in 1859 a captain in the XII. Infantry Battalion and promoted to major in 1866 . He later became a lieutenant colonel and was finally put up for disposition as a colonel . After the reorganization of the army, he became commander of the Landwehr in Leipzig, then in Zwickau , Grimma and finally back in Leipzig. Finally he left the army to devote himself entirely to his literary work.
One of the cartographers' uncle was Major General Karl Friedrich von Sussmilch called Hörnig .
