Mornag ( Arabic مرناق) or La Sebala du Mornag ( Arabic سبالة مرناق) is a small town and a municipality ( municipalité ) in northern Tunisia with around 30,000 inhabitants. The city is the center of the wine-growing region , which is also known in Europe .

The city of Mornag is located northwest of the Djebel Ressas at an altitude of about 30 to 40 m above sea level. d. M. The distance to the northwestern provincial capital Tunis is approx. 20 km (driving distance); the Mediterranean coast of the Gulf of Tunis at Hammam-Lif is around 9 km away.

history
The Andalusian geographer Abū ʿUbaid al-Bakrī reports that after the defeat of the Byzantine army against the advancing Islamic conquerors under the general Hassān ibn an-Nuʿmān, the place was transferred to the Byzantine governor of Carthage , named Mornaco, as a place of residence.
Attractions
The largely modern place offers no historical sights. Excursions and short hikes in the Mornag plain or climbing the Djebel Ressas are interesting.
