Morrastel Bouschet is a red wine variety . It was bred by Henri Bouschet in 1855 and was widely used.

Descent, origin

Morrastel Bouschet is a cross between the Carignan and Petit Bouschet varieties from France.

distribution

In 1958, 10,709 hectares of vineyards were surveyed in France . From the beginning of the 1980s, it was heavily cleared due to EU regulations. In 2008 France only had 7 hectares.

Wine

The wines of the variety are deep red, but have a low alcohol content. Morrastel Bouschet is considered a dyer's grape , a characteristic it received from the Petit Bouschet variety.
