Albert was born to an Austrian immigrant family. At the beginning of his musical career he was a member of several bands as a singer and guitarist. After the success of the first single Feel The Sunshine , he recorded his debut album in 1974 under the title Feelings . With him he reached number 1 in his home country and stayed in the charts for half a year. The title track, which was released as a single, gave Albert a world hit. The ballad made it into the top ten of the US Billboard charts in the summer of 1975 and sold more than 300,000 copies in the US alone. For his success he was nominated for four Grammy Awards in 1976 . Later artists such as Ella Fitzgerald , Nina Simone , Frank Sinatra , Elvis Presley , Sarah Vaughan , Johnny Mathis and The Offspring created their own interpretations of the song.

In 1988, French songwriter Loulou Gasté accused Albert of stealing intellectual property. Feelings is just a plagiarism of his song Pour Toi . Gasté won the process and received 88 percent of all recording royalties.

Albert now lives with his family in Italy. In 2004 he took part in the Sanremo Festival with the song Cuore , a duet with the singer Mietta .
