Moselle Gate
Moseltor is the southernmost and, at 116 hectares, the smallest of the six areas in the Moselle wine-growing region . The Moseltor area is the only area on the Moselle that consists of just one large location , Bübinger Castle , which is divided into six individual layers: Perler Hasenberg, Sehndorfer Klosterberg, Sehndorfer Marienberg, Perler St. Quiriniusberg, Nenniger Römerberg and Nenniger Schloßberg. The three municipalities of Perl , Nennig and Sehndorf are located within the area, which only covers the area of the Saarland . In contrast to the Moselle valley , in which geologically the slate dominates, the Moselle gate belongs to the so-called Gutland , whose climate is mild and temperate and whose productive soils contain calcareous and loamy sediment formations with shell limestone , keuper and lias .
In 2009, 26% of the vineyards were planted with Elbling , 15% Ruländer , 14% Auxerrois and 13% with Pinot Blanc . In addition, Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Noir are grown. In contrast to the other areas on the Moselle, Riesling is the least represented with only about 6% of the area. 99.5% of the area is classified as QbA , only 0.5% is marketed as Saarland country wine . The Weinbergrolle is run in Merzig . Except on the Moselle, there is no significant viticulture in Saarland.
