Moss Mabry
Moss Mabry (born July 5, 1918 in Marianna , Florida , USA , † January 25, 2006 in Oceanside , California ) was an American costume designer .
Moss Mabry created the costumes for the theater performances at his high school . However, he then studied mechanical engineering at the University of Florida . After graduation, he went to Hollywood , where he attended art school and worked for the fashion designer Don Loper . This is how he got in touch with the Warner Brothers Studios . During his 35-year career, which he began in 1953 as a gaderobier, he worked on around 90 films. Mabry's most famous costume design was the red jacket that James Dean wore in ... Because They Don't Know What They Do (1955). Mabry has been nominated for an Oscar four times :

- 1966 for Morituri ( Morituri )
- 1974 The Way We Were ( The Way We Were )
He could never win the award. Nevertheless, he was responsible for the costumes in various film classics and dressed actresses such as Lana Turner , Lauren Bacall , Elizabeth Taylor , Grace Kelly , Doris Day and Liza Minnelli .
