Moststrasse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Moststraße is in the Most district - the largest enclosed Most Birnbaum area in Europe - south of the Danube in Lower Austria . The adventure road runs for around 200 km in a circular route through the hilly landscape of St. Valentin (Lower Austria) and Strengberg via Haag and Weistrach , past Kürnberg , Ertl and St. Michael am Bruckbach to the Seitenstetten Abbey . Then it goes via Biberbach , Aschbach-Markt and Wolfsbach and back to the starting point.

The well-signposted route leads to numerous cider inns, cider street heuriger and rural “farm-gate” businesses as well as to many a vantage point. Numerous themed hiking trails and nature trails invite you to go on excursions on foot or by bike.

The must , which gives the region and the street its name, is mainly produced in autumn when the fruits - mostly pears - are harvested, washed, crushed in mills and pressed. The juice is then stored for up to six weeks for fermentation , filtered and bottled or served straight away.

A special visual attraction arises in spring when the (pear) tree blossoms.
