Mouad Zahafi gained his first experience in international championships at the Summer Universiade 2019 in Naples , where he won the silver medal behind the Algerian Mohamed Belbachir in 1: 47.64 minutes . He then reached the semi-finals at the Africa Games in Rabat , where he was eliminated with 1: 49.18 minutes. He also qualified for the World Championships in Doha , where he was eliminated in the first round with 1: 46.56 min .
In 2019, Zahafi became the Moroccan champion in the 800-meter run.
