Mohamed Belbachir (born January 11, 1994 ) is an Algerian middle-distance runner who specializes in the 800-meter run .

Athletic career

Mohamed Belbachir gained his first experience at international championships in 2011 at the youth world championships near Lille , where he retired in the 800 meter run with 1: 54.58 min in the first round and also with the Algerian sprint relay (1000 meters) with 1:59 , 89 min did not reach the final. That year he finished seventh at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona with a time of 1: 46.70 min. In 2013, he won the bronze medal in the 400-meter run in 47.40 s at the Junior African Championships in Réduit . He then took part in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang , where he won the bronze medal behind the teams from Saudi Arabia and Turkey in 3: 09.04 min. In 2017 he won the silver medal over 800 meters behind the Moroccan Oussama Nabil at the Arab Championships in Radès in 1: 47.57 minutes . At the subsequent Summer Universiade in Taipei he also won the silver medal in 1: 46.73 minutes, this time he had to admit defeat to the Mexican Jesús Tonatiu López . The following year he finished sixth over 800 meters at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona in 1: 49.41 min and won the bronze medal behind Italy and Spain in 3: 04.71 min. He then took part in the African Championships in Asaba , but retired there with 1: 48.71 minutes in the first round.

In 2019 he won the Student World Games in Naples in 1: 47.02 min over 800 meters and was then seventh at the Africa Games in Rabat in 1: 46.10 min. He then retired from the World Championships in Doha with 1: 46.52 minutes in advance . At the military world games in Wuhan he reached fourth place in 1: 50.01 min and won the bronze medal behind the teams from Bahrain and Poland in 3: 06.67 min.

From 2015 to 2017 Belbachir was the Algerian champion in the 800-meter run.
