Ruslan Wolodymyrowytsch Malinowskyj ( Ukrainian Руслан Володимирович Маліновський ., Scientific transliteration Ruslan Volodymyrovyč Malinovs'kyj , FIFA spelling of English transcription. Ruslan Volodymyrovych Malinovskyi ; * 4. May 1993 in Zhytomyr ) is a Ukrainian footballer who since July 2019 when the Italian first division side Atalanta Bergamo is under contract. The midfielder has been a Ukrainian international since March 2015 .

Career

Malinovsky, who was born in Zhytomyr , began playing football at FC Polissja Zhytomyr and in 2006 moved to the youth department of Shakhtar Donetsk . Since 2010 he was in the squad of the third team of Schachtars and played 39 league games for them until 2012, in which he scored ten goals.

The 2012/13 season he spent on loan at the second division PFK Sevastopol , where he played 16 league games for the first team and managed to return to the first-class Premjer-Liha with the club . In the following season 2013/14 he did not play a single league game for Sevastopol in January 2014 and was therefore ordered back and awarded to the league rivals Sorja Luhansk . In his second appearance for Muschyky in the 3-0 home win against FK Mariupol on April 6, 2014 (24th matchday), he scored a goal. He has played eight league games this season, in which he scored three times.

In the next 2014/15 season he stayed with Zorya Luhansk, where he became an important regular player and one of the best young players in the top Ukrainian league. He played 23 league games in which he scored one goal and contributed four assists. He also played the first half of the 2015/16 season on loan at Luhansk and scored three times in 13 league games and provided two assists. However, Malinowskyj was particularly convincing in the four qualifying matches for the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League . Among other things, he scored a total of three goals in two games against RSC Charleroi .

On January 1, 2016, Malinowskyj moved to the Belgian first division club KRC Genk in a loan deal until the end of the 2015/16 season . He made his league debut on January 15, 2016 (22nd matchday) in a 2-1 home win against SV Zulte-Waregem . He quickly gained a regular place in midfield , but his playing time ended four rounds before the end due to a torn cruciate ligament. By then he had played 13 league games for Genk.

He also spent the following season 2016/17 on loan at KRC Genk, but was only able to play from the end of January 2017 due to the torn cruciate ligament. He immediately returned to the starting line-up and scored the only goal of his team on January 17, 2017 in a 1-1 draw against KV Ostend in the first leg of the cup semi-finals on his comeback. He completed 20 league games in which he scored five goals and prepared seven more goals.

On May 29, 2017, Malinowskyj moved permanently to the Blauw-Wit for a fee of two million euros , where he signed a four-year contract. In the 2017/18 season he scored five goals in 37 league games and prepared three more goals. In the following season 2018/19 he was able to improve significantly and made a significant contribution to the team's championship title with 13 goals and 12 assists in 37 league games.

On July 16, 2019, he moved to the Italian first division club Atalanta Bergamo for a transfer fee of 13.7 million euros , where he signed a five-year contract. On August 25, 2019 (1st matchday) he made his debut in a 3-2 away win against SPAL Ferrara when he came on for Remo Freuler in 54 minutes . On October 22, 2019, he scored his first goal for the Nerazzurri in a 5-1 away defeat by Manchester City in the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League . His first league goal was on December 7, 2019 (15th matchday) in a 3-2 home win against Hellas Verona .

National team

Ruslan Malinowskyj completed six international matches for the Ukrainian U19 national team between October 2011 and March 2012 , in which he scored one goal. From March 2013 to October 2014 he played 19 international matches for the U21s , in which he scored twice.

On March 31, 2015, Malinowkyj made his debut in a 1-1 draw against Latvia in a friendly international match for the Ukrainian national team when he came on as a substitute for Roman Besus in the closing stages . He scored his first international goal on October 10, 2018 in a 1-1 draw in a friendly against Italy . In the successful qualification , which Ukraine finished first in the group, for the 2021 European Championship , Malinowskyj was one of the top performers. He played all eight games, scoring three goals and preparing four goals.
