Boško Šutalo (born January 1, 2000 in Metković ) is a Croatian football player who has been under contract with the Italian first division club Atalanta Bergamo since January 2020 . The central defender has been a Croatian U21 international since September 2019 .

Career

Boško Šutalo was born in Metković in the south of Croatia and began his football training at NK Neretva Metković before joining the youth team at NK Split in 2015 . Two years later he moved to the youth department of NK Osijek , where he was promoted to the reserve team for the 2018/19 season , which played in the second highest Croatian league . The central defender made his debut on August 25, 2018 (1st matchday) in a 2-2 draw against HNK Šibenik . He quickly established himself as a regular at NK Osijek II. On October 13 (8th matchday) he scored his first goal for the reserve in a 3-0 home win against NK Varaždin . Following this game he was promoted to the first team. He played his first game in the 1st HNL a week later (11th matchday) in a 4-1 away win against NK Rudeš . In the next few months he was only used sporadically in the first team, but at the end of the season he penetrated the starting line-up of the Bijelo-plavi . In total, he played 12 league games for the first and ten league games (one goal) in the second team this season. In the following 2019/20 season , he retained his status as a regular player and completed 16 league games by the end of the year.

On January 30, 2020, Boško Šutalo moved to the Italian first division club Atalanta Bergamo for a transfer fee of five million euros , where he signed a 4-1 / 2-year contract. Due to an ankle injury, he missed all La Dea games until the mandatory break due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

National team

Boško Šutalo played three international matches for the Croatian U16 national team in April 2016 . In March and May 2018 he was used three times for the U18 , in which he was able to score a goal. Between October 2018 and March 2019, he made nine international matches for the U19s , in which he scored three goals. Šutalo has been the Croatian U21 international since September 2019 .
