Career
society
Djimsiti made his Super League debut for FC Zurich on March 3, 2012 in the home game against FC Sion (0: 1) when he came on for Heinz Barmettler in the 84th minute . In his next outing as a professional, he scored the winning goal to make it 1-0 two months later in the derby against Grasshopper Club Zurich . Djimsiti established himself as a regular at FC Zurich from the 2012/13 season and made it into the Swiss U-21 national team. Urs Meier , who took over FC Zurich in late autumn 2012, was an important sponsor of the time .
The following two seasons were also successful for Berat. At the end of the 2013/14 season he was able to win the Swiss Cup with his club. Berat was always a regular player and was also used in the successful cup final against FC Basel .
In the 2014/15 season he got off to a great start with FC Zurich, but like the entire team, he was weak in the second half of the season. The club was able to maintain its good starting position and qualified for the Europa League at the end of the season .
In January 2016 he moved to Italy to Atalanta Bergamo , where he received a contract valid until June 2019. After only three appearances in the second half of the season, Djimsiti was awarded to the US Avellino 1912 in 2016/17 . Another loan to Benevento Calcio followed in the summer of 2017 .
In the 2019/20 season, Djimsiti took part in the Champions League with Bergamo and reached the quarter-finals before the competition was interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
National team
Djimsiti was a long-time member of various Swiss junior national teams. He made six international matches for the Swiss U-21 national team .
As early as 2014 there were rumors that Djimsiti should be interested in changing associations. In the summer of 2015, Berat confirmed that he wanted to represent Albania in the future. In qualifying for the Euro 2016 , he made his debut in the Albanian national football team in the game against Denmark (0-0) on September 4, 2015 . He scored the only goal so far in the same campaign in a 3-0 away win a month later in Armenia .
