Marco Sportiello (born May 10, 1992 in Desio ) is an Italian football player . The goalkeeper is currently under contract with Atalanta Bergamo .

Career

In the club

After a year at ASD Zibido San Giacomo, Sportiello switched to the Atalanta Bergamo youth academy in 1999 , which he attended until 2010. He continued his career after the end of his junior years at the USD 1913 Seregno Calcio in Serie D , which secured half of Sportiellos transfer rights. In the 2010/11 season he played 28 games and qualified with Seregno for the play-offs, in which they could not prevail. After a year he left Seregno again and moved to the US Poggibonsi , who took over the transfer rights Sportiellos from Seregno, to the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione . In the 2011/12 season he stood in 34 games between the posts and occupied a midfield position with Poggibonis at the end of the season. In the summer Atalanta bought back the transfer rights to Sportiello.

To continue to allow him match practice gave you Sportiello for the 2012/13 season at FC Carpi . At the end of the season, in 30 games for Sportiello Carpi graduated, we qualified for the play-offs, where you against the FC Südtirol and US Lecce won out and thus in the series B rise. After Sportiello was ousted by new signing Etrit Berisha in the first half of the 2016/17 season , he moved to Fiorentina in January 2017 . He tested positive for COVID-19 in March 2020 .

In the national team

Sportiello was appointed by Luigi Di Biagio to the squad of the U-21 national team for the U-21 European Football Championship 2015 . However, he remained without use and the Azzurrini were eliminated in the group stage .

In May 2016, Sportiello was nominated by Antonio Conte for a training camp in preparation for the 2016 European Championship . However, he missed the leap into the final squad and has not been considered since then.
