Career

youth

Berisha played in the youth of the Kosovar club KF 2 Korriku . He left the club in January 2008 and moved to Sweden for Kalmar FF . After arriving in Sweden, he joined Kalmar's U-19 team because he was too young and inexperienced for the first team, but was part of its extended squad.

Lindsdals IF

In order to collect match practice, the goalkeeper was loaned to the fourth division club Lindsdals IF for the entire 2009 season.

Kalmar FF

Berisha made his debut for Kalmar on April 28, 2010 against Örebro SK and won 4-1. After 14 games in his debut season, he became Kalmar's regular goalkeeper. He scored his first goal for Kalmar against Cliftonville FC in the Europa League qualifying round from a penalty and his first goal in Fotbollsallsvenskan against champions Helsingborgs IF from the penalty spot in 2012, but the game was lost 7-2. Berisha became Kalmar's permanent penalty taker, taking every penalty kick. During his time at Kalmar, Club Manager Svante Samuelsson explains that Berisha has developed into a very good goalkeeper and is very determined during his time at Kalmar. Berisha was praised by fans, especially in the 2013 season.

Lazio Rome

On September 2, 2013 Etrit Berisha signed with the Italian club Lazio Rome . He made his debut on November 7, 2013 in a UEFA Europa League group match against Apollon Limassol . Three weeks later in the next Europa League game against KP Legia Warsaw , he was back in the starting lineup in place of Federico Marchetti . Lazio won the game 2-0. On December 12, 2013 he made his third game in a row against Trabzonspor and held some chances from the opponent. After Marchetti injured himself, Berisha made his league debut against Inter Milan on January 6, 2014 and kept the goal 90 minutes to zero, while Lazio celebrated a 1-0 victory. A week later, on January 11, 2014, Berisha played another outstanding game and again received no goal. His first game in the Coppa Italia he played three days later against FC Parma , Lazio won the game 2-1. Even when the first goalkeeper Marchetti returned after his injury, Berisha was able to defend his place on the starting grid. In the Derby della Capitale against AS Roma , Berisha played for 90 minutes and held all the balls. The game ended 0-0 and he was voted "Man of the Match". In May 2015 he was in the final of the Coppa Italia 2014/15 , but it was lost 2-1 to record winners Juventus Turin .

Atalanta Bergamo

In the summer of 2016 Berisha switched to Atalanta Bergamo on loan , where he prevailed against his competitor Marco Sportiello and became a regular goalkeeper. After the successful season, which Atalanta finished fourth in the table, Berisha was firmly committed.

SPAL

In the summer of 2019, the 30-year-old goalkeeper switched to the northern Italian club SPAL Ferrara on loan . The loan contract runs for the entire 2019/20 season .

National team

Berisha made his A international debut on May 27, 2012 in a 1-0 win in a friendly against Iran . He is now number 1 in Albania's goal and has so far played 35 international matches. In qualifying for the Euro 2016 he was in goal in all eight games and only received five goals. In doing so, he helped Albania to qualify for the European Championship finals for the first time and thus for the first time for a major football tournament. When the provisional squad was named on May 21, 2016, he was one of the 27 players nominated and was also included as number 1 in the final squad . In the first game against Switzerland, after a corner after a failed attempt to defend Berisha, the 0: 1 fell, which lasted until the end of the game. Against France he was defeated twice in the final minutes. The win against Romania without conceding a goal was not enough and Albania was eliminated from the tournament as one of the two worst third party groups.
