The population of the place and the community consists to a large extent of immigrant members of various Berber tribes from the area.
economy
The predominantly cattle-rearing and 100% Berber population of the mountain village lived for centuries according to the principles of self-sufficiency . Barley could be grown in the fields of the plateau ; the cultivation of wheat and vegetables was only possible to a limited extent because of the night frosts that continued into summer.
history
Little information is available on the history of the mountain village. According to oral tradition, a Sufi named Moulay Brahim ben Ahmed Mghari († 1661), who was popularly called Tayr Lejbel ("mountain bird") in the local Berber dialect , founded the center of a religious brotherhood ( zaouia ) here . Up to the present day the place Moulay Brahim and the tomb of the 'holy man' ( marabout ) are the destination of pilgrims and tourists from the region and the city of Marrakech.
