The Mount Bear is a 4520 m high mountain in the Saint Elias Mountains in Alaska , about 6 km west of the border to Canadian territory Yukon . It is the ninth highest mountain in Alaska and is located in Wrangell St. Elias National Park .
Mount Bear is surrounded by higher peaks. Mount Bona is to the west and Mount Lucania and Mount Logan to the east . On the southwest flank of Mount Bear is the Barnard Glacier , on the north the Klutlan Glacier .
Ascent history
The first ascent of the summit was made in July 1951 by Jon Lindbergh, Rupert Gates and Alfred Baxter from the upper Klutlan Glacier.
