Mount Dawson is a 2695 m high mountain in the West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It rises 4 km northwest of Mount Reimer in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains .
He was discovered by the so-called Marie Byrd Land Traverse Party , a team mainly to explore the Marie Byrd Land between 1957 and 1958. This named the mountain after Merle Dawson (1906-1986), Major in the United States Army , who from November directed the construction of an overland route between Little America V station and Byrd station until December 1956 and was project manager for ship operations from 1965 to 1970 in the division of the polar program of the National Science Foundation .
