Mount Supernal ( English for unearthly mountain ) is a large and 3655 m high mountain with double peaks in East Antarctic Victoria Land . In the Mountaineer Range it towers over the southeast corner of the Hercules Firnfield and the head ends of the Gair and Meander Glaciers . It used to be confused with Mount Murchison .
The northern group of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (1966-1967) named it in reference to its particularly striking and lofty appearance.
