Mubarak Hassan Shami
Mubarak Hassan Shami ( Arabic مبارك حسن شامي Mubarak Hasan Schami , DMG Mubārak Ḥasan Šāmī , maiden name Richard Yatich ; * December 1, 1980 ) is a Qatari long-distance runner of Kenyan origin.
He has been starting for Qatar since 2004. On the occasion of his change of nationality, he adopted an Arabic name.
In 2005 he won the Vienna City Marathon and the Venice Marathon and came second at the World Half Marathon Championships in Edmonton . The following year he won the Prague Marathon . At the road running world championships in Debrecen in 2006 he was eighth.
In 2007 he won the Paris Marathon in his personal best of 2:07:19 h. At Marathon the 2007 World Championships in Athletics in Osaka , he won the silver medal behind Luke Kibet (KEN) and before Viktor Röthlin (SUI).
