Muck Petzet

Muck Petzet (* 1964 in Munich ) is a German architect and university professor .

The German Pavilion curated by Muck Petzet during the 13th Venice International Architecture Biennale 2012.

Life

Muck Petzet was born in Munich in 1964 as the son of the art historian and monument conservator Michael Petzet . After studying philosophy at the LMU Munich , Petzet studied architecture at the Technical University of Munich and the University of the Arts in Berlin before starting his professional career in Basel at Herzog & de Meuron . Since 1993 he has worked independently in alternating partnerships with Josef Peter Meier-Scupin and Andreas Ferstl in Munich. In 2015 he opened a branch in Berlin.

In 2012, Petzet took over the general commissioner of the German Pavilion at the 13th International Architecture Biennale in Venice . The contribution to the exhibition, designed by Konstantin Grcic around the large-scale photographs of Erica Overmeer from the Netherlands , dealt with existing architecture as a material, content and formal resource.

Teaching

Petzet has been a guest at numerous architecture schools as a lecturer and guest critic. After a teaching position at the University of Liechtenstein (2004/05), he held a visiting professorship at the Technical University in Munich in the winter semester 2012/13, and has been Professor of Sustainable Design at the Accademia di architettura Mendrisio since 2014 .
