Mulai Yusuf or Yusuf ben Hassan ( Arabic يوسف بن الحسن, DMG Yūsuf b. al-Ḥasan , * 1882 ; † November 17, 1927 in Fez ) was Sultan of the Alawids in Morocco from 1913 to 1927.

Life

The protectorate administration completed the subjugation of the tribes and began extensive land expropriations in order to leave the land to French settlers.

The uprising of the Berber tribes of Abd al-Karim (1922–1926), which broke out against Spanish rule during the reign of Mulai Yusuf in northern Morocco , had no influence on the French protectorate. Rather, French troops took part in the suppression of the uprising in the Rif Mountains . Mulai Yusuf's successor was his son Mohammed V (1927–1961), who was to lead Morocco back to independence.
