Chicxulub Pueblo is a municipality in the Mexican state of Yucatán . The municipality extends over an area of 44.4 km², in the 2010 census 4113 inhabitants were counted in the municipality. The administrative seat is the Chicxulub Pueblo of the same name .
geography
The municipality of Chicxulub Pueblo is located in the northern center of the state at a height of up to 100 m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the Yucatán peninsula , to its sub-province of the Yucatec Karst and to the hydrographic region of Yucatán Norte . With almost 95% of the community area, limestone dominates as a rock type and Leptosol as a soil type. More than two thirds of the municipality is occupied by dry forest , around 15% is used for arable farming, around 12% as pasture land.
The Municipio Chicxulub Pueblo borders on the Municipios Progreso , Ixil , Mocochá , Conkal and Mérida .

In the 2010 census, 4113 people in 1067 residential units were counted in the municipality. Over eleven percent of them are speakers of an indigenous language , including 446 speakers of the Mayathan and one speaker of the Chol . Almost 10% of the population was illiterate. 40.77% of the residents of Chicxulub Pueblo were registered as economically active, of which about 72% were men and 2% were unemployed. 8.68% of the population lived in extreme poverty.
