The Municipio Choquecota (also: Choque Cota ) is a district in the Oruro department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality Choquecota is one of two municipalities in the province of Carangas and borders in the northwest with the province San Pedro de Totora , in the west with the province Sajama , in the south and southeast with the municipality Corque , and in the northeast with the province Nor Carangas .
The central place of the municipality is the town of Choquecota with 194 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the north-eastern part of the district, the entire municipality has only ten villages, the largest village is Andapata with 341 inhabitants.

The municipality of Choquecota is located on the Bolivian Altiplano between the Cordillera Occidental in the west and the Serranía de Huayllamarca in the east. The climate of the region is semi-arid and a typical daytime climate , in which the temperature differences between day and night fluctuate more strongly than between the seasons.
Annual precipitation in the region is less than 300 mm (see Turco climate diagram), with precipitation between 40 and 80 mm only falling in the summer months from December to March; in the remaining eight months, monthly precipitation is often close to 0 mm. The annual average temperature is around 6 ° C, the monthly values vary between 2 and 3 ° C in June / July and 8 to 9 ° C from November to March.
