The 27th Tour of Murcia took place from March 7th to 11th, 2007. The bike race was to be held in five stages over a distance of 663.61 kilometers. After the complete cancellation of the second stage, the total distance was reduced to 486.41 kilometers. It belongs to the UCI Europe Tour 2007 , category 2.1. The race was originally supposed to be canceled due to a lack of sponsorship money, but the Murcia region took over the remaining costs at short notice .

The second stage was not held due to a storm with wind speeds of up to 130 km / h. After thinking about shortening the stage, these plans were discarded and the drivers only covered the last ten kilometers of the stage so as not to disappoint the spectators at the destination. On the first stage, too, the riders were hindered by strong winds, so that they only drove an average speed of 36.798 km / h on the flat stage.

The prize money for the second stage was donated to the relatives of Isaac Gálvez , who died in an accident in November 2006 .
