The Murtaugh Peak is a pointed and 3,085 m high mountain peak in the West Antarctic Marie Byrd Land . In the Wisconsin Range of the Horlick Mountains, it rises from a ridge 6 km west-northwest of Mount Minshew .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own measurements and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1966 after the American geologist John Graham Murtaugh, who was a member of a team in the Ohio State University worked in the Horlick Mountains from 1964 to 1965.
