Musa Nuri Esfandiari ( Persian موسی نوری اسفندیاری; * 1896 in Tehran ; † 1972 ) was a Persian diplomat .

Life

From 1930 to 1934, Mussa Khan Nury-Esfandiary was a substitute delegate at the opium conference at the League of Nations in Geneva . In 1937 he was chargé d'affaires in Paris. In 1938 he was envoy to Baghdad .

From 1940 to September 10, 1941 he was ambassador to Berlin. Persia had intensified relations with the German Reich against the background of the division into a Russian and a British sphere of influence. From 1942 to 1944 he was envoy in Baghdad . From 1946 to 1948 he was envoy in Ankara . In 1947 there was a drought in Iran. The Iranian government blamed a damming up of the aid in Afghanistan, while the Afghan government claimed natural causes. Nuri Esfandiari was Secretary of State in 1948 and on July 7, 1948, agreed to a US mediation role in this dispute. From 1949 to 1952 he was ambassador to New Delhi . From March 1955 to August 1956 he headed the diplomatic mission in Tokyo , where he was appointed ambassador by the Ministre plénipotentiaire in April 1955 .
